A sign that Allāh wants something good for someone is that they follow this path: The Book of Allāh, the Sunan of the Messenger of Allāh (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam), the Sunan of his Companions (radiAllāhu ‘anhum) and whoever follows them in goodness. And (he follows) what the leaders of the Muslims in every country were upon, until the end of what was of scholars. Such as: Al-Awza’ī, Sufyan Ath-Thawrī, Malik ibn Anas, Ash-Shafi’ī, Ahmad ibn Hanbal, Al-Qasim ibn Salām and whoever was upon their path. And staying away from every way that these scholars did not go. Ash-Shari’ah 1/301
